Recently, Haleon Suzhou plant announced that it has become carbon neutral at the plant operation level. Under the support of Climate Bridge providing full carbon neutral consulting and offset services, through the international authority third party Biwei certification (Beijing) Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Biwei") verification, these two factories of Suzhou factory Wusong River factory and Baobelt Road factory obtained the PAS 2060 carbon neutral certificate issued by Biwei and has become the country's first "carbon neutral" factory in the field of consumer health.

The birth of

The first "carbon neutral" factory in consumer health

Haleon, which in July completed a split from a well-known drug company, became a separate, whole-heartedly focused consumer health company, listed separately in London and New York. As one of Haleon's key supply bases in the Asia Pacific region, Haleon Suzhou Plant has consistently implemented Haleon's carbon commitment targets. In September this year, in partnership with Climate Bridge, the plant achieved carbon neutrality in its operational range from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.

As a zero-carbon technology partner of Haleon Suzhou plant, Climate Bridge provides technical consultation and offset services for the whole process of Haleon Suzhou plant's declaration of "carbon neutrality" at the plant operation level, ensuring that it strictly follows ISO14064-1 standard and internationally recognized PAS 2060:2014 carbon neutrality certification process. Herion has been verified by the international authoritative third party agency Biwei and obtained the PAS 2060 carbon neutral statement certification, becoming the first "carbon neutral" factory in the field of health in China.

Haleon Suzhou plant achieved carbon neutrality thanks to its years of efficient energy conservation and emission reduction practices, including effective control of direct greenhouse gas emission sources and comprehensive layout of green electricity. On the one hand, by improving equipment operation efficiency and energy utilization rate, using energy-saving equipment and reducing energy use, the plant can reduce related greenhouse gas emissions and maximize the reduction of direct emission sources. On the other hand, by increasing the supply of electricity from renewable sources, such as distributed photovoltaics, and promoting energy conservation activities to reduce electricity use (such as energy-saving retrofitments or the use of new technologies), indirect greenhouse gas emissions from energy can be reduced.

In addition, Climate Bridge provides Haleon Suzhou plant with carbon credits generated from forestry carbon sequestration and renewable energy generation projects for emissions to be offset. These projects have resulted in a number of environmental benefits, including increased forest CO2 uptake, improved local biodiversity and rock desertification control, as well as more employment opportunities and healthier working conditions for local residents.

首家消费健康领域“碳中和”工厂

环保桥作为赫力昂苏州工厂零碳技术的合作方，为赫力昂苏州工厂宣告实现工厂运营层面“碳中和”全程提供碳中和技术咨询与抵消服务，确保其严格遵循ISO14064-1标准和国际公认的PAS 2060:2014碳中和证明规范流程。赫力昂经国际权威第三方机构必维核查，获得PAS 2060碳中和实现声明认证证书，成为国内首家健康领域“碳中和”工厂。

赫力昂苏州工厂此次实现工厂“碳中和”，得益于其多年以来高效的节能减排实践，包括对直接温室气体排放源的有效管控及绿电的全面布局。一方面，工厂内通过提升设备运转效率及能源利用率、使用节能设备、降低能源使用，减少相关温室气体排放，最大化的减少直接排放源；另一方面，通过增加可再生能源电力如分布式光伏的供应，同时推动节约能源活动，从而降低电力使用（如进行节能改造或新技术的运用），减少能源间接温室气体排放。

此外，针对待抵消的排放量，环保桥为赫力昂苏州工厂提供了由林业碳汇与可再生能源发电项目产生的碳信用额。这些项目的实施促进了森林吸收二氧化碳、当地生物多样性改善以及促进石漠化防治等，带来了多项环境效益，还为当地居民提供了更多的就业机会与更健康的工作环境。
