In September 2020, our country proposed the goals of "carbon peaking" in 2030 and "carbon neutrality" in 2060. Under the background of "double carbon", Ant Group actively explores the use of "green computing" technology to save energy and reduce carbon, and is the first to use it in Alipay and other scenarios. Recently, the "green computing" technology has passed the emission reduction verification of the national financial technology certification center-Beijing National Financial Technology Certification Center (referred to as China National Financial Certification), confirming the emission reduction effect of this technology. This is the first carbon emission reduction verification certificate issued by China National Gold Certification, and it also makes Alipay the No. 001 certified institution in the financial field.
China National Financial Certification is the first national-level certification body in the financial industry established by the decision of the People's Bank of China, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Certification and Accreditation Administration. The China National Gold Certification conducted verification in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and other relevant greenhouse gas accounting standards and methodologies, and finally issued a statement document, confirming that Alipay reduced 9,734.35 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2021, and Ant Group reduced 27,727.48 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2021.
In recent years, our country's
computing power industry has developed rapidly. According to the latest data
from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of June
2022, the scale of data center servers in my country is nearly 20 million, and
the total computing power exceeds 150 EFLOPS (15,000 floating-point operations
per second). ), ranking second in the world. At the same time, the energy
consumption of data centers is constantly arousing social concern. In order to
achieve my country's carbon neutrality goal of 2060, data centers urgently need
to improve the efficiency of computing power utilization.
It is understood that in 2019, Ant Group launched the "Cloud Future" project. One of the key goals is to rationally allocate computing resources and improve the overall operating efficiency of the Ant Data Center through the upgrade of the technical architecture, so as to achieve green and stable development. Finally, this "green computing" technology was developed, which has been applied on a large scale in Ant Group's data center, and has enabled Ant Group to reduce emissions by nearly 30,000 tons in 2021.
According to the presentation document certified by China National Finance Corporation, Ant's "green computing" technology mainly includes three technologies, namely adaptive elastic capacity technology, tidal scheduling technology and offline co-location technology. Among them, the adaptive elastic capacity technology can make the container and the CPU core no longer "separate", but share the rich resources with other businesses, and will not be restricted when they need resources; the tidal scheduling technology can switch extremely quickly (container Wake-up) speed; in offline co-location technology, different types of tasks can be scheduled to run on the same physical resources, and resources can be reused as much as possible, greatly reducing costs.
After Ant increased the computing power of servers through "green computing" technology, it reduced the number of servers on the shelves by 11,233 compared with the base year, which in turn led to the reduction of upstream emissions in the value chain; according to the calculation, Ant Group will drive the upstream of the enterprise value chain and purchased electricity in 2021 to reduce emissions A total of 9023.76tCO2e.
At the 2022 China Computing Conference held on July 30, He Zhengyu, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of Ant Group and Head of Green Computing, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech on "Green Computing", believing that: Green computing technology is to improve computing power. Efficiency, an important technical capability that contributes to the national dual carbon goal. Ant Group will work with the industry to help the development of the industry through continuous technological breakthroughs and an open-source attitude.
At present, Ant's green computing technology is being opened to the industry and society through open source, free and open patents, and commercialization.

国金认证是经人民银行决策、国家市场监管总局和国家认监委批准设立的国内首家金融行业国家级认证机构。国金认证依据国际标准化组织(ISO)等相关温室气体核算标准与方法学实施核查,最终签发陈述文件,证实支付宝2021年度减排9734.35吨二氧化碳当量,蚂蚁集团2021年度减排27727.48吨二氧化碳当量。
近年来,我国算力产业快速发展,据工信部最新数据显示,截至2022年6月底,我国在用数据中心服务器规模近2000万台,算力总规模超150EFLOPS(每秒15000京次浮点运算次数),位居全球第二。与此同时,数据中心的能源消耗正在不断引发社会关注。为实现我国2060年的碳中和目标,数据中心亟需提高算力利用效率。
据了解,2019年,蚂蚁集团启动了“云通未来”项目,关键目标之一就是通过技术架构的升级,合理分配计算资源,提升蚂蚁数据中心的整体运行效率,从而实现绿色、稳定的发展。最终研发出这套“绿色计算”技术,目前已在蚂蚁集团的数据中心大规模应用,并让蚂蚁集团在2021年实现减排近3万吨。
根据国金认证的陈述文件显示,蚂蚁这套“绿色计算”技术主要包括三项技术,分别是自适应弹性容量技术、潮汐调度技术和在离线混部技术。其中自适应弹性容量技术可以让容器与CPU核不再“各自为政”,而是将富裕的资源共享给其他业务使用,并在自己需要资源时不会受限;潮汐调度技术能够极快切换(容器唤醒)速度;在离线混部技术可以将不同类型的任务调度到相同的物理资源上混跑,尽可能将资源重复利用,极大降低成本。
蚂蚁通过“绿色计算”技术提高服务器算力后,较基准年减少服务器上架11233台,进而带动价值链上游排放减少;据核算,蚂蚁集团2021年度带动企业价值链上游及外购电力减排共9023.76tCO2e。
在7月30日举办的2022中国算力大会上,蚂蚁集团基础设施委员会主席、绿色计算负责人何政宇应邀参会并发表了 “绿色计算”主题演讲,认为:绿色计算技术是提高算力效率,助力国家双碳目标的重要技术能力。蚂蚁集团将通过不断的技术突破和开源开放的姿态和行业一起助力产业发展。
