In response to persistent high temperatures in Dongguan in 2024—when the annual average temperature reached 23.7°C, 0.8°C above the historical average, and summer lasted 242 days, the longest in nearly 30 years according to the Dongguan Meteorological Bureau—combined with the high-load challenge created by the intensive deployment of customer IT equipment, the O&M team at GLP’s Dongguan Xiegang Data Center launched an energy-efficiency optimization campaign based on refined operations. The team implemented targeted measures, including optimizing the cooling source system, improving precision air-conditioning performance, and dynamically adjusting dampers and fan speeds, effectively reducing energy consumption. It also analyzed historical energy-consumption data and continuously refined its energy-saving strategies. These measures delivered breakthrough improvements in energy efficiency. In 2024, the data center achieved a record-low PUE, reduced cooling energy consumption by 15%, saved more than 20,000 metric tons of water annually, and cut carbon emissions by over 17,800 metric tons. This became GLP Data Centers’ first municipal reclaimed-water reuse retrofit project and enabled 100% replacement of project water consumption with reclaimed water.
