Compared to receiving environmental knowledge unilaterally, this group of young people chose to delve into the case itself and tell the story of green spaces to more people. Beautiful China and Youth Talk "is one of the series of activities of Tsinghua University's Global Youth Climate Week. It breaks away from the professional text framework and studies and talks about green practices scattered in cities, communities, and parks from the perspective of young people, promoting the promotion of green cases and cross-border dialogue.
This sharing is based on the results of the second "Beautiful China Green Space User Action" case collection "2026 Yearbook". The collection activity has received more than 150 cases submitted by enterprises, communities, public institutions and other entities, breaking away from the perspective of engineering construction, focusing on the real experience of users, and recording innovative explorations in green space construction and operation in various regions. The Tsinghua student team served as the keynote speaker, breaking the traditional reporting mode and providing multidimensional interpretations around four major directions: public awareness guidance, resource system reconstruction, international sustainable perspective, and green space rights.
The team of the School of Journalism and Communication takes Ant Forest as the starting point and shares along the main line of "re understanding resources, re understanding systems, and redefining individuals". They mentioned, "The truly interesting part of Ant Forest may not just be planting a tree species in the desert, but more importantly, planting greenery in the lives of ordinary people." The team connects practical samples such as Three Gorges hydropower, old clothing recycling, black soldier fly kitchen waste treatment, industrial wastewater recycling, and home appliance recycling, and combines vivid stories from campuses, communities, and families to showcase the diverse paths of resource recycling and explain how ordinary people transform from environmental users to actively participating green actors. In their view, every ordinary person can also find their own place.
The law school team anchored the right to use and maintain green spaces, adhering to the concept of "starting with people and being loyal to them", and shared the theme of "not just green, returning green spaces to life". They thought: whether green space is good or not, who the final say? The answer lies with the user. The team explores the solution to the neighbor avoidance effect through a composite model of "underground facilities+above ground parks" in water purification plants and ecological industrial parks; Using photovoltaic projects and green building cases to illustrate, green spaces have the opportunity to transform from simple cost items into sustainable assets; At the same time, facing the long-term operational pain points after the completion of green spaces, and proposing: "Co construction is us building a home together, while coexistence is our recognition that the home is already a resident." Youth can become users, recorders, translators, and guardians of green spaces.
Malaysian student Hou Lijia brings the perspective of overseas youth and extracts four dimensions: "beauty in nature, beauty in innovation, beauty in the people, and beauty in sustainability". She said: "What we really want to cultivate is not people who know how important environmental protection is, but people who believe they have the ability to create change." Combining Mount Wuyi National Park, riparian ecological restoration, enterprise life-cycle carbon management, community composting and other cases, we combed out a six step sustainable cycle mechanism of ecological transformation, joint operation, performance accounting, openness and transparency, financial support, and continuous upgrading, providing reference for mutual learning of ecological experience at home and abroad.
The "user" perspective that runs through the entire sharing will also take the stage of international climate dialogue. Wang Weiwei, Director of the Green Space User Action Committee and General Manager of the Wanwu Cloud Sustainable Development Center, revealed that the team is actively preparing to release the "Green Space User Yearbook" during COP31, showcasing innovative practices in China's green space field through user narratives and telling the international community a warm story of China's low-carbon transformation.
Li Penghui, director of the Propaganda and Education Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, said that young people are shifting from passive "listening to environmental protection" to active "talking about environmental protection". The value of this activity is to promote the construction of ecological civilization, which is no longer limited to paper texts, but transformed into young people's independent narratives and practical actions. We look forward to young people continuously unleashing their creativity and connection, exploring green practices around them, telling real and three-dimensional stories of beautiful China, and continuously conveying credible and perceptible green concepts to the outside world.
