Ningbo Iron and Steel advances green transformation centered on ecological friendliness and resource reduction & recycling, becoming a sustainable benchmark in the steel industry through eco-industrial integration.For ecological facilities, it follows the "Industry + Ecology + Tourism" concept to support its National AAA-Level Industrial Tourist Attraction: building a 3D green landscape with over 120 seedling species (integrating workshops and greenery into a "scenic view at every step" route); constructing the Iron and Steel Cultural Corridor, a check-in spot combining industrial memories and ecological beauty. It also uses new energy electric heavy trucks to replace fuel vehicles, building a zero-emission in-plant logistics system to cut carbon and improve visitor experience.​

1. Resource Recycling: It handles over 500,000 tons of metallurgical slag annually, with a comprehensive solid waste utilization rate exceeding 99%, achieving "full utilization" of metallurgical slag. It also has a sound waste classification system.

1. Construction of ecological-friendly facilities: After the launch in 2022, first optimize the greening layout of Ningbo Iron and Steel's factory area, screen more than 120 types of seedlings suitable for the industrial environment, build a three-dimensional greening system combining arbors, shrubs, flowers and grasses, and simultaneously build landscape facilities such as a steel culture corridor; in 2023, promote the deep sewage treatment project, build a "sponge park" water circulation system, realize full recycling of production wastewater, and create the "Clear Water and Fish Viewing" ecological scenic spot; in the same year, introduce 67 new energy pure electric heavy trucks to replace the traditional fuel heavy trucks in the factory, and complete the construction of a low-carbon logistics system.

Resource reduction and recycling: Since 2022, adjust the metallurgical slag treatment process, add key processes such as crushing, purification and processing, and convert steel slag into reusable products such as particle steel, water-washed purified slag steel and concentrate powder; at the same time, divide waste classification areas in the factory area, set up exclusive recycling points, and establish a full-chain treatment channel of "classification-collection-transportation-resource utilization", and complete the full coverage of the waste classification system by the end of 2022.

2. 资源减量循环利用:2022 年起调整冶金渣处理工艺流程,新增破碎、提纯、加工等关键工序,将钢渣转化为粒子钢、水洗提纯渣钢、混合渣粉等可再利用产品;同步在厂区划分垃圾分类区域,设立专属回收点,建立 “分类 - 收集 - 转运 - 资源化” 全链条处理渠道,2022 年底完成垃圾分类体系全覆盖。

- Ecology: Before implementation, the greening of Ningbo Iron and Steel's factory area was mainly single protective belts and green hedges, with insufficient landscape and ecological properties, and part of the production wastewater was discharged; after implementation, the factory area has become a garden-style space with "flowers in all seasons and evergreen in all seasons", with zero wastewater discharge, annual carbon emissions from logistics and transportation greatly reduced, and the quality of the ecological environment significantly improved.
