Project Overview

At present, most ecological science popularization in China suffers from homogeneous forms and poor practical implementation. Dominated by classroom lectures and theoretical teaching, it is characterized by “emphasizing knowledge over action and focusing on instruction over practice”. Traditional popular science approaches fail to help the public develop genuine low-carbon behavioral habits or realize effective transformation from ecological cognition to practical action.

Against this backdrop, relying on Anji’s high-quality ecological resources of 860,000 mu of bamboo forests and the industrial advantages of China’s first national promotion base for “bamboo replacing plastics”, Ziran Zhuyi abandons the single model of sightseeing tourism. Centering on ecological real-scene classrooms, it builds an immersive nature education demonstration base integrating ecological popular science, natural aesthetic education, labor practice, low-carbon research and study, and rural cultural tourism experience. The base has successively been awarded the titles of Zhejiang Provincial Nature Education Base and National Nature Education Base.

Taking bamboo as the carrier and ecology as the foundation, the base transforms ecological protection scenarios into experiential, learnable, communicable and marketable cultural tourism and educational products. It aims to build immersive green experience scenarios, guide all space users to actively participate in low-carbon practices and spatial co-construction, solve the prominent problems of difficult implementation of ecological popularization, insufficient behavioral transformation, and idle value of characteristic ecological spaces, and establish an innovative practical model for user-oriented green space practice in nature education scenarios.

当前国内多数生态科普存在形式单一、落地性弱的普遍问题，多以课堂宣讲、理论授课为主，存在 “重知识、轻行动、重讲授、轻实践” 的痛点。传统科普难以让公众真正建立低碳行为习惯，无法实现从认知到行动的有效转化。

基于以上现状，自然竹义依托安吉86万亩优质毛竹林生态资源、全国首个“以竹代塑”应用推广基地产业优势，摒弃单一观光旅游模式，以生态实景课堂为核心，打造集生态科普、自然美育、劳动实践、低碳研学、乡村文旅体验于一体的沉浸式自然教育示范基地,先后荣获“浙江省自然教育基地”和“国家级自然教育基地”。

以竹为媒、以绿为底，把生态保护场景转化为可体验、可学习、可传播、可变现的文旅教育产品，旨在构建沉浸式绿色体验场景，引导每一位空间使用者主动参与低碳实践、参与空间共建，解决生态科普落地难、行为转化弱、特色空间价值浪费的问题，打造自然教育场景下绿色空间使用者行动的创新实践样板。

Project Implementation

In response to the rigid forms of traditional ecological science popularization, low public participation and insufficient utilization of spatial resources, Ziran Zhuyi has innovatively built a cross-border integrated practice model of “natural camp space + immersive ecological popular science + user behavior reshaping”, which is fully implemented by the core professional team.

In terms of spatial operation optimization, the project strictly adheres to the principles of stock revitalization and minimal intervention. Instead of large-scale reconstruction and expansion, it carries out refined ecological micro-renovation based on the original camp sites. It has built characteristic ecological scenarios including organic composting circulation areas, rainwater collection and utilization areas, native plant conservation zones and zero-waste science popularization stations, improving the camp’s low-carbon infrastructure. Meanwhile, knowledge of low-carbon popularization, biodiversity conservation and climate change response is integrated into site signs and landscape installations, turning the entire camp into a three-dimensional ecological education space and realizing the dual upgrading of spatial functions and popular science value.

In terms of public behavior advocacy, the project completely breaks the one-way teaching mode and redefines the identity of visitors. Adolescents and parent-child families are positioned as co-builders of green spaces. The institution has established a normalized operation mechanism and regularly launches immersive activities such as camp plastic reduction campaigns, waste classification practice, ecological vegetation maintenance, nature volunteer management and resource recycling practice, guiding users to participate in spatial operation and maintenance and practice low-carbon behaviors.

In terms of operation, the project constructs a long-term internal and external dual operation system. Internally, it implements institutional management of camp zero-waste operation, resource recycling and green maintenance to set a benchmark for low-carbon development. Externally, relying on offline nature study programs and online new media matrices, it continuously outputs green practice cases and ecological popular science content, promoting the in-depth implementation of green concepts in an all-round way. With steady progress and continuous iteration, the project effectively solves the industry pain points of difficult implementation, low public participation and poor behavioral transformation in traditional ecological science popularization.

Furthermore, leveraging Anji’s diverse native ecosystems, the project develops various low-impact and non-destructive nature study scenarios, practicing a mutual empowerment model of ecological protection and cultural tourism development. Based on Anji’s mature ecological governance system, it transforms ecological concepts such as biodiversity conservation, low-carbon circulation and bamboo substitution for plastics into visualized study courses, turning lucid waters and lush mountains from “ecological landscapes” into “educational scenarios”.

Breaking the single traditional tourism model dominated by sightseeing, homestays and drifting in Anji, the project innovates the new business form of ecological and cultural nature education, forming a diversified product system covering ecological study, manual practice, low-carbon popular science and rural light cultural tourism. It regularly launches courses including bamboo forest exploration, bamboo craft creation, nature observation, ecological labor and low-carbon life practice, serving diverse customer groups such as primary and secondary school students, parent-child families, youth quality development participants and government-enterprise ecological study teams. It fills the gap of high-end nature education cultural tourism in Anji and realizes the industrial upgrading from transient sightseeing to in-depth experiential tourism.

针对传统生态科普形式固化、公众参与度低、空间资源利用率不足等问题，自然竹义创新打造 “自然营地空间 + 沉浸式生态科普 + 使用者行为重塑” 跨界融合实践模式，全程由机构核心团队主导落地实施。

在空间运营优化层面，项目严格遵循 “盘活存量、最小干预” 原则，不进行大规模改扩建，依托营地原有场地开展精细化生态微改造。有序打造有机堆肥循环区、雨水收集利用区、本土植物保育、零废弃科普驿站等特色生态场景，完善营地低碳基础设施。同时将低碳科普、生物多样性保护、气候变化应对等知识融入场地标识、景观装置，让整体营地成为立体化生态教育空间，实现空间功能与科普价值双向升级。

在公众行为倡导层面，彻底打破单向授课模式，重构使用者身份，将到访青少年、亲子家庭定义为绿色空间共建者。机构建立常态化运营机制，定期开展营地减塑行动、垃圾分类实操、生态植被养护、自然志愿管护、资源循环实践等沉浸式活动，引导使用者亲身参与空间运维、践行低碳行为。

运营上项目构建内外双向长效运营体系，对内落实营地零废弃、资源循环、绿色运维管理制度，以自身运营树立低碳标杆；对外依托线下研学、线上新媒体矩阵，持续输出绿色实践案例与生态科普内容，全方位推动绿色理念落地生根。项目全程稳步推进、持续迭代，有效解决了传统生态科普落地难、参与弱、转化低的行业痛点。

Project Outcome

The core highlight of this project lies in the innovative cross-border integration model of nature education scenarios. Different from traditional single-type popular science models, the project establishes a brand-new implementation system of “immersive scenarios through minimal spatial renovation + full-participation practical practice + long-term low-carbon operation”, featuring outstanding innovation and high replicability.

First, scenario innovation: revitalizing the value of stock space through low-intervention micro-renovation. Without substantial new construction investment, the project upgrades ordinary study and camp venues into experiential, participatory and educational green ecological spaces, achieving efficient utilization of spatial resources and conforming to the philosophy of green and low-carbon development.

Second, mechanism innovation: reshaping the role of space users. Breaking the traditional one-way mode of “teacher lecturing and audience listening”, the project transforms all space users from passive learners into maintainers and co-builders of green spaces, realizing the effective transformation of low-carbon concepts from knowledge reception to practical action.

Third, long-term and sustainable operation. Instead of conducting phased activities, the project has formed a standardized and regular operation mechanism, carrying out green practice activities throughout the year and steadily providing professional ecological science popularization services.

Fourth, strong replicability. Adopting a lightweight, low-cost and easy-to-implement model that requires no large-scale hardware investment, the system can be widely applied to non-standard innovative venues such as study camps, nature bases and characteristic leisure spaces. It provides a new practical model for promoting green behavioral practice among users of similar ecological spaces.

本项目最大亮点为自然教育场景跨界融合模式创新，区别于传统单一科普模式，构建了 “空间微改造沉浸式场景 + 全员参与式实践 + 长效化低碳运营” 的全新落地体系，具备极强创新性与可复制性。

一是场景创新，以低干预微改造激活存量空间价值。在不新增大量建设成本的前提下，将普通研学场地升级为可体验、可参与、可育人的绿色生态空间，实现空间资源高效利用，契合绿色低碳发展理念。

Project Highlights

The base develops a localized and characteristic nature education curriculum system, integrating Anji’s bamboo culture, the “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains” philosophy, and ecological protection knowledge into practical teaching. Equipped with professional nature instructors, science popularization interpreters and curriculum research and development teams, the base realizes standardized courses, regularized activities and professionalized services. Different from ordinary amusement projects, it centers on “education + experience”, enabling visitors to learn ecological knowledge immersively and perceive the “Two Mountains” philosophy, so as to effectively foster the public’s green living habits.

By deeply connecting with surrounding villages, the base employs local villagers and cultivates indigenous nature study instructors and cultural tourism service practitioners, driving the development of supporting industries including bamboo cultural and creative products, bamboo handicrafts, rural catering and homestays. Through the activation and utilization of ecological resources, local bamboo and ecological resources achieve in-situ value transformation, forming a new rural development pattern of “one bamboo forest, one set of courses, one industrial chain and shared prosperity for local communities”.
