Accelerated replacement cycle of consumer electronics, coupled with a sharp increase in municipal solid waste, presents growing challenges to traditional recycling and disposal chains. At a macro level, the industry broadly faces pain points such as fragmented carbon management, a lack of operational precision, low supply chain synergy, and difficulties in translating public environmental awareness into action.

In traditional waste recycling systems, low-value recyclables—such as express packaging film, foam, and food containers—suffer from low yields and high collection costs, leaving them long trapped in a dilemma of being “rarely collected.” At a micro level, enterprises face internal governance hurdles in daily office operations and offline store networks, including lagged digitization in waste management and inconsistent green standards across the supply chain.

Improvement Goals

As a publicly listed company, ATRenew actively aligns with national dual-carbon goals, embedding green and low-carbon principles into corporate governance and spatial operations. Leveraging its corporate office areas, eight regional operation centers nationwide, and over 2,100 offline stores as spatial hubs, ATRenew strives to maximize recyclable material recovery across pre-owned electronic devices and municipal recyclables, establishing a recycling and resource utilization system that is end-to-end controllable and addressing both high- and low-value materials.

1. Top-Level Governance and Normalized Oversight

Implementation Body: Senior Management Team

ATRenew’s senior management team has incorporated national dual-carbon goals into the overall corporate governance framework, establishing a three-tier ESG governance structure comprising the Board of Directors, the ESG Committee (ESGC), and the ESG Working Group. Under this framework, the Board of Directors oversees, approves, and supervises the company’s overall ESG initiatives, while the ESG Committee advances the ESG management framework, monitors strategy execution, and refines targets. Additionally, the dedicated ESG Working Group connects departments across the company to execute day-to-day ESG operations. This system ensures institutional safeguards at the top level and builds a normalized mechanism for sustainable governance.

2. Green Operations and Low-Carbon Tech Adoption

Implementation Body: operation centers, offline stores, etc.

To address heavy energy consumption in operation centers and renovation waste in offline stores, ATRenew implements targeted technical innovations—for instance, adopting an intermittent start-stop control system for Matrix inspection lines at the Changzhou Operation Center to dynamically manage energy use. For offline stores, the company achieves unit furniture module refurbishment and reuse through unified standardized design and modular mass production, advancing standardized recyclability. To tackle packaging waste in logistics, ATRenew reduces material usage and increases packaging utilization through optimization, substitution, and recycling strategies.

3. Green Workplace Culture and Employee Engagement

To address energy and water waste in office areas, ATRenew deploys energy-efficient equipment such as LED lighting alongside smart HVAC systems, while implementing night power-offs and regular inspections; ATRenew also installs water-saving fixtures, decommissions high-consumption large sterilizers, and increases the frequency of water pipe inspections.

To tackle the issue of idle functional electronics, ATRenew has established an internal redistribution mechanism for used computers, prioritizing second-hand devices for employee requests and use.

To eliminate single-use items and raise environmental awareness, the company promotes fully paperless workflows using digital documents and online collaboration tools; installs multiple recycling bins, collection containers, and intelligent recycling machines across office spaces; eliminates single-use trash bags by replacing dry waste bins with repurposed cardboard boxes while promoting waste sorting; substitutes traditional signage for floors and departments with eco-friendly corrugated cardboard signs while placing "turn off lights" reminders above all light switches; and organizes activities to encourage green commuting and waste sorting among employees.

针对运营中心能耗大、线下门店装修废料多等问题，以常州运营中心为例，Matrix生产线体采用间歇启停控制系统，进行动态能耗管控。门店通过统一标准化设计与模块化批量生产，实现单体家具模块的翻新与二次利旧，推动标准化可重复利用。针对物流环节的包装废弃物问题，万物新生通过优化、替代与循环等方式，减少包装材料的使用，提升包装材料利用率。

3. 内部倡导绿色办公，培育员工低碳行为

实施主体：行政等

针对办公区能源消耗和水资源浪费等问题，万物新生在办公区域采用LED照明等节能设备及智能空调系统，同时执行夜间断电模式并开展日常用电巡检工作；采用节水设备并停用高耗水的大型消毒机，加强水网管控与巡查频次。

针对仍有使用价值的旧机的闲置等问题，万物新生建立了旧电脑内部循环机制，员工优先申请和使用二手电脑。

针对办公区域一次性用品滥用及员工环保意识薄弱的问题，公司全面推行无纸化办公，推广电子文档和线上写作工具；在办公区域设置多个回收箱、回收桶以及爱回收·返航新生回收机；取消一次性垃圾袋，以废弃纸箱代替干垃圾桶并推广垃圾分类；采用瓦楞纸环保材质标识替换原楼层部门标识，并在所有照明开关上方设置随手关灯提示标识；开展绿色打卡、以旧制新等环保活动，鼓励员工绿色通勤和垃圾分类。

Currently, ATRenew’s offline stores span nearly 300 cities across China, while its recycled resource utilization business covers 40 cities nationwide, demonstrating strong replicability and scalability.

Green Operations: In operational processes, the Matrix inspection lines at the Changzhou Operation Center utilize an intermittent start-stop control system to achieve dynamic energy management. Green Office: To handle daily office waste, ATRenew deployed intelligent recycling machines across its workplaces, processing a total of 25.8 tons of various recyclables in 2025. For hazardous waste such as batteries and fluorescent tubes, ATRenew uses dedicated collection units for source separation, ensuring 100% compliant transfer to qualified hazardous waste treatment enterprises and achieving safe, closed-loop disposal.

In 2025, ATRenew’s greenhouse gas emission intensity (Scope 1 + Scope 2) stood at 0.28 tCO₂e/RMB million, representing a 9.5% year-on-year decrease and marking steady progress toward its 2030 target of a 35% reduction. Moreover, recycled resource utilization businesses expanded deeper into residential communities nationwide. Leveraging over 50,000 intelligent recycling machines in communities, the "Revive" initiative onboarded 245 consumer brands, hosted 526 eco-friendly events, engaged over 5.94 million participants, collected approximately 1,560 tons of recyclables, and achieved a total carbon reduction of roughly 10,650 tons.
